I have already posted about how you can make extra money with paid blogging.  Of course, that is not the only way you can make money writing.  There are many different ways that you can make money from your writing.  One of those ways to earn money from writing is to write articles for Internet sites.

There are many different sites out there that will pay you for your articles.  There are three main types of pay systems that these sites use.  Some will give you an upfront payment with no revenue share of future earnings.  Some will not give you an upfront payment but will give you a revenue share of future earnings.  Others will give you an upfront payment plus a revenue share of future earnings.

Although the upfront payment is nice it is best to focus on which system will earn you the most money over time.  This way of making money is a blend of alternative income and passive income but I’m going to focus on the passive income aspect of it. Another thing to consider is whether you retain the copyright to your work and can use it elsewhere.  This will allow you to earn money several places from one article.

The two sites that I have experience with are eHow and Associated Content. Ehow offers revenue share only while Associated Content offers either upfront payment plus revenue share or just revenue share depending on whether your work has been published elsewhere before.  I haven’t published much on either of these sites yet but I can vouch that they are legitimate sites.  I like the passive income potential of eHow.  I plan to write 30 articles for them this month and I will report on my results.

If you would like to make extra money by writing articles for online sites I would start with the two sites I mentioned.  If you want more options a simple search will reveal many more similar sites.
